Korea plans Coachella-style giant K-pop festival to bring in 200,000 global fans

Blackpink have headlined Coachella, as have Stray Kids at Lollapalooza, while Seventeen have rocked Glastonbury and Le Sserafim have dazzled Summer Sonic.

Yet Korea has no equivalent – there is no festival that sees music fans around the world book flights to K-pop’s birthplace every year.

But that is about to change.
“Fanomenon”, a K-culture mega-event unveiled this week by South Korea’s Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange, is the most ambitious attempt to fill that gap.
