Kamel Daoud says he was sentenced to three years in prison in Algeria over his novel 'Houris'

His 2024 book explores the Algerian civil war that killed 200,000 people between 1992 and 2002.

Speaking to Le Monde, Daoud confirmed that the sentence was solely related to a complaint from the National Organization of Victims of Terrorism, and not that of Saâda Arbane, who accused the author of stealing her tragic story.
