Heartstopper Creator Reacts To Kit Connor's Comments About Nick And Charlie's Sex Life

During an interview with https://www.theguardian.com/film/2026/jul/10/kit-connor-joe-locke-interview-heartstoppers-forever-queer-teen-drama-netflix" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Guardian published earlier this month to promote https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/heartstopper-forever-review-netflix-film_uk_6a58f1bbe4b071ebc1baa249" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">the new Netflix film Heartstopper Forever, Kit and his co-star https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/news/joe-locke/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Joe Locke were asked about the fact that the show’s third season and feature-length finale both see Nick and Charlie experimenting with one another sexually as their relationship progresses.

“If I’d had my way, I would have had Nick and Charlie cheating on each other and doing all those stupid things,” Kit claimed during the interview. “Because young people do that and don’t necessarily need to be villainised for it.”

He added: “Heartstopper Forever takes a step in that direction of not being so rose-tinted about being human.”

“It’s a line that you have to walk: ‘How far are we going to take this?’,” Kit then claimed. “But at the end of the day, it did feel like these two guys are really attracted to each other at the age where they probably would have been doing it.”

Attending the Heartstopper Forever premiere last week, Alice – who penned the original graphic novels on which the show is based, as well as all three seasons and the film – was https://www.instagram.com/p/Da0SoIoMPz9/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">asked about Kit’s interview on the red carpet by Metro.

“We never had a conversation about that!” they responded. “I can’t say I support that idea, it’s not really Heartstopper vibes, personally.

“But, you know, maybe Kit could make his own TV show?

I would love to see that!”

Elsewhere in their Guardian interview, Joe claimed it would have been “weird” to not include sex between Nick and Charlie in their final outing.

“Just because our show is a more earnest version of a queer representation doesn’t mean that sex [shouldn’t be shown],” he insisted. “It’s still a big thing for anyone in the world.”

Upon its release last week, the Heartstopper movie was https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/heartstoppre-forever-reviews-critics_uk_6a59e0fee4b042a7aac752ff">met with mostly positive reviews, although some critics were disappointed that the finale left some supporting characters in the background.
