Tropical storm dumping heavy rain around Tokyo
A tropical storm is dumping heavy rain and raising flood risks around east-central Japan as it moved into the heavily populated Tokyo region.
Flights were canceled, trains suspended and street traffic paralyzed in the capital Wednesday morning.
More than 5,000 homes lost power.
Tropical Storm Jangmi was moving northeast with 55 mph winds at midmorning.
Weather authorities issued the highest-level flood warning in a number of areas, urging people in vulnerable areas to move to higher ground for safety.
The storm has dumped up to 20 inches of rain and more was forecast.
