China is stepping up a diplomatic push to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, by hosting high-level talks with leaders from Europe and the Gulf.
Beijing has also criticised the US blockade of Iranian ports, saying the military action in the Strait of Hormuz is “dangerous and irresponsible”.
