Europe wildfires: Rare ‘fire cloud’ spreads over Bordeaux

A rare “fire cloud” has formed in Bordeaux as wildfires continue to ravage France.

The fires, which have so far forced the evacuation of 360,000 people across France and Spain, have created a weather phenomenon known as a pyrocumulonimbus.

The giant cloud, typically formed during volcanic eruptions, generates its own winds and lightning that can worsen fires.
