Supreme Court Reinstates Etan Patz Murder Conviction

The US Supreme Court on Monday reinstated the murder conviction of Pedro Hernandez in the 1979 disappearance of 6-year-old Etan Patz, one of the most notorious missing-child cases in American history.

The 6-3 decision overturned a lower appeals court ruling that had thrown out the 2017 conviction.

The case helped spark the national missing children's movement and led to Etan being one of the first children featured on milk cartons.

Hernandez's conviction will now stand, bringing a measure of finality to a case that has haunted New York City for decades.
