Iran Threatens Hormuz Shipping

Iran’s joint military command warned that all oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz must use its approved routes or face a ‘forceful response,’ sharply escalating tensions over the critical waterway.

The threat comes amid US fighter jet presence over the Strait, which the Iranian army described as threatening regional security.

The escalation occurs as indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran in Doha have been paused.

The Sultan of Oman has offered assurances to the UK regarding the Strait.
