EU Approves Tariff Deal with US to Avert Trade War

The European Parliament approved legislation to enact a long-delayed transatlantic trade deal with the United States, cutting duties on a range of American goods and fulfilling the EU's obligations under a pact struck with President Donald Trump.

The vote arrived just weeks before a July Fourth deadline, after which Trump would have imposed higher tariffs on the 27-nation bloc if the pact hadn't taken effect.

The deal, initially agreed at Turnberry almost a year ago, aims to avert a new round of tariff conflict and stabilize transatlantic economic relations.

The approval marks a significant step toward mending trade tensions between two of the world's largest economies.
