United plane strikes Newark truck

A United Airlines flight from Venice, Italy, collided with a bakery truck and a light pole during its final approach to Newark Liberty International Airport.

Dramatic dashcam footage captured the moment the Boeing 767's underside clipped the vehicle on the New Jersey Turnpike before landing safely.

While the truck driver sustained minor injuries, none of the 221 passengers or 10 crew members on board were harmed.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched investigations to determine why the aircraft was flying at an unusually low altitude during its descent.
