Laos Survivor Rescued

Rescuers in Laos have successfully extracted the first of seven gold miners trapped in a flooded cave for over a week.

The survivor was guided through narrow, water-filled passages by an international team of specialist divers.

Specialist teams from Thailand and Australia are assisting in the operation, which involves teaching the remaining trapped men how to use scuba equipment.

Oxygen levels inside the cave are reported to be falling, creating a race against time for the rescue mission.

Two other individuals who were part of the original group remain missing within the complex cave system.
