Lufthansa cancels 20,000 flights
The cancellations, which primarily affect regional carrier CityLine, represent a 1% reduction in the group's total passenger capacity.
Lufthansa stated the move is a proactive measure to ensure the stability of its long-haul operations amid extreme supply chain volatility.
European transport ministers are meeting in Luxembourg to discuss emergency fuel-sharing plans to prevent a wider disruption of the aviation sector.
Other carriers, including easyJet and Ryanair, have also warned of potential schedule changes and increased passenger fees as fuel costs nearly double compared to last year.
