L.A. Philharmonic Names New Director

Daniel Harding has been named the 12th music director of the world-renowned Los Angeles Philharmonic.

The 50-year-old conductor, who also maintains a career as a part-time commercial pilot for Air France, was selected for his deep experience with major European orchestras.

This appointment marks Harding's first leadership role with an American ensemble, following a search that lasted several years.

He is expected to bring a traditional yet versatile approach to the orchestra's programming as it enters a new era.
