Ireland Fuel Protests and Blockades

Ireland is facing a deepening energy crisis as five days of disruptive protests have left many gas stations dry and threatened national transportation.

Protesters using tractors and lorries have targeted the Whitegate oil refinery, demanding government intervention to lower the cost of living.

In response, the head of the Irish police service has authorized the removal of blockades, with support from the defense forces to ensure fuel tankers can regain access.

An emergency Cabinet meeting has been called to sign off on new measures to assist hauliers, farmers, and the fishing sector, as the government warns of the 'long tail' of the war in Iran on domestic prices.
