Péter Magyar ousts Viktor Orbán

Péter Magyar, a former government insider turned whistleblower, successfully harnessed growing public anger over corruption to dismantle Orbán's 'illiberal' state.

The result has been greeted with relief in Brussels and Kyiv, as Magyar has pledged to restore the rule of law and unblock EU funding.

The defeat is also seen as a blow to the international MAGA movement, which had frequently cited Orbán's Hungary as a model for nationalist governance.

Magyar now faces the immense challenge of dismantling a system where state institutions and media remain largely controlled by Orbán loyalists.
