Ireland fuel protests continue

The Irish government is facing a motion of no confidence from opposition parties who have dismissed the new measures as 'laughable' and insufficient.

Protesters have blockaded key motorways and ports, leading to gridlock in Dublin and Galway as they demand further tax cuts on petrol and diesel.

Minister for Communications Patrick O'Donovan has called for an investigation into 'unbalanced' media coverage of the unrest, which he described as sinister.

Authorities warn that fuel supplies may take 'quite some time' to return to normal levels even if the blockades are lifted.
