Europe Scorched by Record-Shattering Heatwave

The UK Met Office issued its second-ever red warning for extreme heat, with temperatures possibly reaching 40°C, surpassing the 1976 record.

Dozens of schools across England and Wales are set to close, and health authorities have warned of life-threatening conditions.

In France, two children died after being left in a hot car, and the country recorded its hottest June day on record.

The heatwave has also sparked wildfires and strained emergency services across the continent.
