Police have arrested over 300 people and registered seven FIRs following two days of stone-pelting and arson in the industrial belt.

The violence was triggered by news of a significant wage hike at a neighboring branch in Gurgaon, which local workers felt was not being matched.

In response, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved a 21% interim increase in minimum wages, applicable retrospectively from April 1.

Investigators are currently tracing the origins of the digital networks used to mobilize the protesters and spread provocative messages.
