Fragile Lebanon ceasefire begins

The cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah has brought a tentative calm to a region devastated by seven weeks of intense bombardment.

While civilians are rushing back to damaged homes in southern towns, Israeli officials have warned that their military presence remains and they will strike if threatened.

The ceasefire was facilitated by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, acting as intermediaries for the U.S. and Iran.

Observers warn that the truce is extremely fragile, as it does not yet address long-term border disputes or the disarmament of militant groups.
