Dozens killed in Haiti stampede
A celebratory atmosphere at one of Haiti's most famous landmarks turned into a scene of horror as a stampede claimed the lives of at least 30 individuals.
Authorities in the northern town of Milot report that dozens more were injured or remain missing after the incident at the 19th-century fortress.
Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé expressed his condolences, noting that many of the victims were students.
The Citadelle Laferrière, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was reportedly packed beyond capacity at the time of the crush.
