Sainsbury's warns of war impact
In a cautious trading update, Sainsbury's CEO Simon Roberts echoed the concerns raised by rival Tesco regarding the economic fallout from the Iran war.
The company noted that while it remains focused on keeping food prices low, the surge in fuel and freight costs is creating an 'uncertain' outlook.
Despite these challenges, Sainsbury's posted a pre-tax profit of £619 million, supported by growth in its private-label brands.
The retailer is now working closely with suppliers to mitigate the impact of rising inflationary pressures on essential household goods.
