US and Iran Ceasefire Deal

US and Iran Ceasefire Deal

U.S. and Iranian negotiators have reached a tentative 60-day ceasefire extension and a framework to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The agreement, which still requires official sign-off from President Trump, follows a fresh exchange of fire where Iran targeted a U.S. base in Kuwait.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that while the U.S. remains patient, they will not tolerate any effort to impose a tolling system in the strategic waterway.

The draft memorandum reportedly includes provisions for Iran to remove naval mines and for the U.S. to issue specific sanctions waivers on Iranian oil exports.
