Erica Schwartz nominated for CDC

Erica Schwartz nominated for CDC

Schwartz is expected to bring a more restrained approach to the agency as it navigates the administration's broader health agenda.

Her appointment comes as Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faces intense congressional scrutiny over proposed budget cuts and measles outbreaks.

The CDC has been led by a succession of temporary directors for over a year, leading to concerns about institutional stability.

The White House also named three other officials to fill senior leadership roles at the Atlanta-based public health agency.
