Easter ceasefire falters in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had expressed hope that the temporary halt in hostilities would lead to a more durable peace, but military officials claim Russian aggression has continued unabated.

In a rare moment of cooperation, the two sides exchanged 175 prisoners of war each in a mediation facilitated by the United Arab Emirates.

However, the ongoing aerial assaults and reported violations on the front lines have cast significant doubt over the Kremlin-declared truce.

Ukrainian negotiators also suggested that Russia’s war funds may be depleting, potentially influencing their decision to propose the short-lived ceasefire.
