Mark Carney Wins Majority Government

The Carney Liberals triumphed in the ridings of University—Rosedale, Scarborough Southwest, and Terrebonne, bringing their total to 174 seats in the House of Commons.

Prime Minister Carney stated that the new majority will allow his government to move more efficiently on economic priorities and deal more effectively with the ongoing trade war with the United States.

In his first act after the win, Carney announced a temporary suspension of the federal fuel excise tax to address rising costs.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has vowed to continue fighting the government, despite the double-digit defeats.
