Roblox overhauls child safety features
In its most significant safety update to date, Roblox is rolling out mandatory age-gated tiers for its 144 million daily users.
Children aged five to eight will be assigned to 'Roblox Kids' accounts with restricted content, while those aged nine to fifteen will use 'Roblox Select' accounts with expanded parental controls.
The company is also reintroducing the term 'games' to replace 'experiences,' signaling a shift in its branding strategy.
These changes aim to address long-standing concerns about inappropriate content and communication on the platform while heading off potential social media bans for minors globally.
