WHO Warns of More Deadly European Heat
The World Health Organization warned that Europe could face ‘more deadly weeks’ ahead as another intense heatwave built over the Atlantic, with parts of the continent forecast to reach 43 degrees Celsius.
More than 130 representatives from 41 countries joined an emergency call on extreme heat as the UK braced for its third heatwave of the year, with temperatures expected to hit 34 to 35 degrees Celsius.
The Met Office confirmed the new heatwave would feel different to the previous two, while Londoners reported losing hours of sleep during tropical nights.
The warning came as scientists continued to document the accelerating impacts of climate change on public health.
