Deadly Heatwave Scorches Europe, Over 1,300 Dead

Europe is enduring its most severe heatwave on record, with excess deaths surpassing 1,300 since June 21.

France has been hit hardest, reporting approximately 1,000 fatalities and overwhelming mortuaries in Paris.

Scientists from the World Weather Attribution group said the event would have been virtually impossible this early in summer without climate change.

The heat is now moving east into Italy, the Balkans, and Ukraine, straining public services and infrastructure.
