Hungary’s Parliament Ousts President

Hungarian lawmakers voted to remove President Tamás Sulyok, a loyalist of former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, through a constitutional amendment pushed by Prime Minister Péter Magyar.

Magyar called Sulyok a 'puppet' of the illiberal former regime, marking a decisive break with the Orbán era.

The ouster represents the latest step in Magyar's campaign to dismantle the structures of his predecessor's influence over the state.

The constitutional amendment passed with broad support in the Hungarian parliament, signaling a significant political realignment.
