Israel-Lebanon Framework Deal Signed After US Talks

Israel and Lebanon signed a trilateral framework agreement following US-mediated talks in Washington, with Israeli army chief General Eyal Zamir calling it historic and pledging that Israel will honor the deal.

Prime Minister Netanyahu described the agreement as a massive blow to Hezbollah and Iran, vowing that the IDF would maintain a security zone inside Lebanon for as long as required.

The deal's text stipulated that Israeli forces would only withdraw from southern Lebanon after the Lebanese military disarms Hezbollah and dismantles its infrastructure.

However, fresh Israeli strikes on Lebanon continued despite the new agreement, with the military saying it targeted Hezbollah members operating near its self-declared security zone.
