India reserves half of Mangalore oil storage for strategic use

The Indian government confirmed that half of the capacity at the Mangalore oil‑storage complex will be dedicated to strategic petroleum reserves, sufficient to cover 74 days of national consumption.

The move comes as part of a broader effort to insulate the country from supply shocks caused by the ongoing Middle‑East conflict and fluctuating crude prices.

Officials said the reserves will be managed by the Indian Oil Corporation and will be replenished annually.
