Artemis II heads to Moon

The four-person crew, consisting of three Americans and one Canadian, is currently on a 10-day journey that will involve a high-stakes flyby of the Moon's far side.

Mission control confirmed that the translunar injection burn went flawlessly, setting the spacecraft on a free-return trajectory that will use lunar gravity to slingshot back to Earth.

During their first days in space, the astronauts have shared spectacular high-resolution images of Earth and managed minor technical issues, including a toilet malfunction.

This test flight is a foundational step in NASA's broader strategy to establish a permanent human presence on the lunar surface by 2028.
