Ian Huntley death inquest opens
The circumstances surrounding the death of one of Britain's most notorious child killers have been detailed in a County Durham court.
Ian Huntley was serving a life sentence for the 2002 murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman when he was attacked in a prison workshop on February 26.
He was transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where he remained on life support until his death on March 7.
The inquest has been adjourned as police continue their investigation into the assault, which reportedly involved a spiked metal bar.
