BBC to cut 2,000 jobs
BBC employees were informed on Thursday that the corporation faces the 'tough task' of significantly reducing costs over the next three years.
The job losses come as the BBC prepares for the arrival of its new director-general, former Google executive Matt Brittin.
Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy expressed concern over the impact on staff, noting that many are frustrated that high-paid executives and presenters may not be affected.
The broadcaster is also considering closing some linear channels as it shifts focus toward its digital and streaming services.
