Tornadoes devastate Mississippi

A series of powerful tornadoes swept through southern Mississippi, leaving a trail of destruction across several counties.

At least 14 individual twisters were reported, damaging or destroying more than 500 homes and injuring at least 17 people.

Hard-hit communities like Purvis and Bogue Chitto saw mobile homes flattened and major infrastructure crippled, leaving thousands without power.

Emergency management teams are currently conducting search and rescue operations while residents begin the long process of clearing debris and assessing the extensive damage.
