Super Typhoon Bavi Barrels Toward East China

China is bracing for Super Typhoon Bavi, a storm as wide as France, after days of deadly flooding.

The typhoon is expected to hit the east coast this weekend, with cities and provinces in northern China on alert for intense rainfall as moisture channelled by the storm moves inland.

The system is potentially the most powerful storm China has seen in years, threatening further devastation to areas already saturated by heavy monsoon rains.

Authorities have issued warnings and prepared emergency response measures.
