Mr Vango was taken to Leahurst Equine Hospital on Saturday night after departing the race at the sixth fence.

Animal welfare charities have raised concerns after several horse fatalities were reported over the three-day festival.

Despite the injuries, a fortunate punter claimed a staggering payout after placing a £100,000 bet on the race winner, I Am Maximus.
