Heatwave Ends with Storms
The record-breaking UK heatwave is set to end this weekend as the Met Office warns of heavy rain and thunderstorms across 29 regions.
Temperatures are expected to plunge from 35C to as low as 2C in some northern counties.
A 'mobile Atlantic regime' is moving in, bringing a transition to much cooler and more unsettled weather for many.
Authorities have issued health alerts for vulnerable populations as the sudden shift in conditions could exacerbate respiratory issues.
The change marks a dramatic conclusion to one of the hottest May spells on record, which saw at least 12 water-related deaths across the country.
