Pentagon Proposes $1.5 Trillion Budget

Defense officials have presented the largest military budget in U.S. history, reflecting a massive shift toward autonomous warfare and advanced munitions.

The 2027 request earmarks $54 billion for drones and $21 billion for counter-drone systems, rivaling the entire military budgets of many nations.

Despite the scale of the request, the administration has faced criticism for withholding the true financial impact of the conflict with Iran, which has already depleted nearly half of the nation's Patriot missile stockpile.

Lawmakers are expected to debate the proposal as the Department of Homeland Security remains partially shut down due to a separate funding impasse.
