Swalwell resigns amid misconduct allegations

Representative Eric Swalwell has announced his resignation from Congress following a series of sexual assault and misconduct allegations from multiple women.

The California Democrat also suspended his gubernatorial campaign, though he continues to deny the most serious criminal accusations against him.

A fifth accuser, Lonna Drewes, came forward on Tuesday alleging that Swalwell drugged and raped her at a hotel in 2018.

FBI Director Kash Patel has since invited Swalwell to sit down for an interview as political pressure from both parties intensifies.
