Snap Inc. Lays Off 1,000 Staff
The massive workforce reduction at Snapchat's parent company is expected to cost between $95 million and $130 million in severance and related expenses.
Spiegel characterized the move as a 'crucible moment' for the firm, which has faced pressure from activist investors to improve its financial performance.
In addition to the layoffs, Snap is closing more than 300 open roles to further streamline its operations.
The announcement follows a trend of major tech companies citing AI as a primary driver for structural downsizing in 2026.
