Fire at Major Australian Oil Refinery

The refinery supplies approximately 50% of Victoria's fuel and 10% of the national total, making the incident a significant threat to Australia's energy security.

While national supplies are reportedly confirmed until mid-May, experts warn that local petrol stations could see short-term outages and price increases of up to 20 cents a litre.

The fire broke out following a gas leak and sent plumes of smoke visible for 15 kilometers.

This disruption comes at a critical time as the country already faces pressure from global supply issues linked to the war in Iran.
