Savannah Guthrie to host Wordle show

The viral word game Wordle is making the jump to television as a primetime game show on NBC. 'Today' anchor Savannah Guthrie has been tapped to host the series, which will feature teams of contestants competing in high-stakes word puzzles.

The show is being produced by Jimmy Fallon's Electric Hot Dog production company and is set to begin filming in Manchester later this year.

Guthrie, a self-described Wordle obsessive, said the game provided a point of connection with her mother Nancy, who remains missing after disappearing 100 days ago.
