Russia launches deadliest Ukraine strikes
The hours-long bombardment has shattered hopes that a temporary Easter ceasefire might lead to a more lasting cessation of hostilities.
Ukrainian officials reported that the strikes caused catastrophic damage to residential buildings and critical energy facilities across the country.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, stating that Russia does not deserve an easing of international sanctions while it continues to target civilians.
The Ukrainian Air Force managed to intercept a significant number of the incoming projectiles, but a shortage of interceptor missiles left several major cities exposed.
