Tesco introduces QR codes
The new technology will initially be applied to 13 lines of Tesco's own-brand sausages before being rolled out across other categories.
The QR codes can store significantly more data than standard barcodes, allowing shoppers to access details on ingredients, allergens, and sustainability directly on their smartphones.
Retail experts suggest the shift could transform the shopping experience and help supermarkets better manage inventory and reduce food waste.
While some consumers have expressed excitement about the return of a 'beloved facility,' others remain cautious about the digital transition and its impact on those without smartphones.
