Fatal Train Collision Near Bedford

The collision involved two East Midlands Railway services travelling towards London, with the driver of one train killed.

Passengers described being thrown violently, with many suffering broken bones and other injuries, as 11 were seriously hurt.

The accident occurred at around 5:15pm, and National Rail warned of major disruptions to services between London St Pancras and Leicester.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch is investigating the cause, while British Transport Police declared a major incident.
