Trump extends Iran ceasefire indefinitely

U.S. President Donald Trump unilaterally extended the temporary ceasefire with Iran just hours before its scheduled expiration, citing a request from Pakistan to allow more time for diplomatic negotiations.

The decision comes amidst reports of a 'seriously fractured' Iranian leadership and the collapse of planned peace talks in Islamabad.

While military strikes are paused, Trump has ordered the U.S. Navy to maintain a strict blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which he claims is costing Tehran $500 million daily.

Iranian officials have dismissed the extension as a 'ploy' to buy time for a surprise strike and refuse to negotiate until the blockade is lifted.
