Irish Man Sentenced to 14 Years for Hungary Murder

A Hungarian court jailed an Irish citizen for 14 years for strangling American tourist Mackenzie Michalski in Budapest in 2024.

The 31-year-old from Portland, Oregon, had been on vacation when she met the man at a nightclub and went to his rented apartment.

Investigators said the suspect invited her for sex before killing her.

The case drew international attention and highlighted the risks faced by solo travellers.
