Air Canada suspends JFK routes

The suspension of key transborder routes is the latest sign of the severe strain the Middle East conflict is placing on the global aviation industry.

Air Canada stated that the high cost of jet fuel, which reached $4.32 per gallon this week, has made certain routes economically unsustainable for the summer season.

While the airline will continue to operate 34 daily flights to other New York-area airports, the JFK cuts will impact thousands of summer travelers.

Industry experts warn that more cancellations may follow if the Strait of Hormuz disruption persists beyond the current 10-day ceasefire.
