Texas Ten Commandments Law Upheld

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that the law does not violate the Establishment Clause of the Constitution.

Plaintiffs in the case have already announced plans to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court, setting up a potential landmark showdown over the separation of church and state.

The law requires schools to display donated posters of the commandments in a conspicuous place in every classroom.

Supporters argue the measure promotes historical and moral literacy, while critics condemn it as state-sponsored religious coercion.
